Is there always a Deerfield Police Officer on duty?

Yes. Deerfield PD has an officer on duty 24/7, you will always have an officer respond if you dial 9-1-1. If all Deerfield Officers are on another call and unable to respond immediately, then another agency from towns such as Candia, Nottingham, Northwood, Raymond, Allenstown, or Epsom will respond immediately. However, Deerfield will conduct any follow up investigations that are required.


I called the Deerfield Police Emergency line but Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office answered. Will a Deerfield Officer still respond?

Yes. Deerfield Police doesn’t have an in-house dispatch. 24/7 we are dispatched by the Rockingham County Sheriff’’s Office Dispatch Center, a Deerfield Officer will respond if available. If no Deerfield Officer is available then another bordering agency will.


Do I need a pistol permit to carry in New Hampshire?

No. However, a pistol permit in New Hampshire allows you to carry in multiple other states including Maine. It does not allow carrying in Massachusetts or Vermont. Always do research on the current state laws of any state before traveling with a firearm. To learn more see here.


If I have a complaint against a police officer what do I do?

Come to the department and tell any employee that you want to make a complaint; or

  1. Call the department and tell the person answering the phone that you want to make a complaint

  2. Write your complaint and mail it to the Chief of Police

  3. If your complaint involves the Chief of Police, you may contact the appropriate appointing authority

  1. An officer will assist you in filling out a Report of Complaint Against Police Personnel Form. This form asks you to identify yourself and then to give specific details about your complaint.

  2. Your complaint will then be investigated. You may be contacted and asked additional questions about your complaint.

  3. You will be contacted by the Chief of Police, or his designee, when the investigation has been completed.
